We have better things to do on Good Friday than shoveling out the van, especially when that snow is still coming at you, driven by 50 km/hr winds.
At least here in the little clearing the wind is not so bad.
Out at Torbay, though, the wind is active. Down in the cove it’s still not so bad.
That’s not the case out in Flatrock. The full fury of the wind is bearing on the shore.
The mobile phone’s little camera does not do justice to the surf pounding out against the rocks. The wind and waves toss tonnes of spray 30-40 metres into the air at a time.
Down at the foot of the harbour you get a taste of the spite that winter still holds for us.
“I’m still in control,” she’s saying. “Spring can wait ’til I’m good and ready.”

Wow. – that’s a lot of snow and wind! Winter still firmly in the saddle for now…but next month he has to run for sure!
Hard to say around here. Victoria Day, generally celebrated during the third Monday in May, is a long weekend that many consider the start of the ‘camping’ (RV’ing really) season. It’s generally accepted here, with a laugh, that you might wake up that Sunday morning with snow on the ground. …and fog in your head :>)

We just accept it here. A hike in this weather is, to say the least, bracing!

WOW! What else can I say about the wild and woolly weather you have. We have some strong wind and rain here on Puget Sound and I see the people with beach front property have their lawns well watered, though not the kind that promotes lawn growth. I see the wave hitting up against the rocks and heavy spray being thrown into the air. Great from the top of the hill where I am warm and dry.
I love your photos, it is such a different type of place and really helps enhance your descriptions of how life is for you there. Love the moose, though I can see you have to be on the lookout all the time.

Took those on Good Friday…and it was snowing. We got 5-7 cm then. Took the ones at Cape Spear yesterday and we got 6-8 cm then. Went down to Quidi Vidi Gut this morning and took some more…BUT…had to shovel 10-12 cm away from the door first. Clearly Sheilagh is making sure March goes out like a lion!
